We had a patient today who said that she didn’t care about her hearing loss anymore: “There is no one I care to hear!” This was stated with her daughter in the room. Our feeling is that if she doesn’t want to hear us or the grocery clerk, that is OK with us. But, she said that in the presence of her most cherished Daughter…did she realize what she was saying? We knew she didn’t.

Most of our patients are very fearful about what might happen with regards to their ears and hearing. I will tell you this: be fearful of not hearing your family. They are much more important in hearing than anything that we can say!
