Using an App in conjunction with your hearing aids can provide access to enhanced features that can make your hearing, and life, easier and more enjoyable. Starkey Hearing Aid App 

The Starkey Hearing Aid App is available to download from either the Apple Store or Google Play. It pairs with Edge AI or Genesis AI hearing aids and can not only improve your overall hearing experience, but can make a difference in your well-being by ensuring your engagement in social situations. The app is compatible with your mobile phone or through your Apple Watch. 

There are so many options on the app to make your life easier as well as to improve your hearing. Your hearing aids can be used to stream calls, control the volume on your TV, and even be found through your phone if they go missing! Many more possibilities are available through the app, so let’s get started learning some tips and tricks! 

Setting Up the App

As mentioned above, the app is available through the Apple Store or Google Play. Visit either of those and search for “My Starkey”, then download the app. 

Once you have the app on your phone, pairing it with your hearing aids is pretty easy. Many full service hearing aid centers, like Hearing Solution Centers, will do this for you to ensure the app is set up correctly and working before you leave the store. However, you can set it up yourself as well. 

To pair the app with your hearing aids: 

  1. Go to Pairing>Settings>Accessibility>Hearing devices (you should find the name of your hearing aids here
  2. Pair the hearing aids (you may need their charger near you while you do this)
  3. When the hearing aids are correctly paired they will show up Blue and indicate your name

**Remember to have your Bluetooth enabled on your phone while you go through this process. 

My Starkey App Features, Tips & Tricks 

There are many features on the My Starkey app to improve your hearing and make your life not only easier, but more secure and enjoyable as well. Some of the key features that the My Starkey app provides include: 

Smart Assistant

Located in the top right corner of the My Starkey home page, the Smart Assistant is easily accessible and ready to help when you need it. Once you tap the icon, or double tap your hearing aid if the user control setting is on, the Smart Assistant will indicate it is “Listening”. 

You can ask questions or state demands and the Smart Assistant will react to your verbal commands. You can adjust settings on your hearing aids, set reminders, or even ask questions about your hearing aids and the Smart Assistant will respond accordingly. Of course the answers to your commands or questions will be heard through your hearing aids, ensuring that communication is seamless. 

Audio Streaming 

Streaming TV, music, and more to your hearing aids from your smartphone or wireless hearing aid accessories has never been easier. The My Starkey app allows you to play the volume from your TV directly into your hearing aids making it unnecessary to have the volume on the TV blasting. The TV Streamer box is necessary for this option to work. 

The My Starkey app also allows you to mute the surrounding noise so that you can hear the TV better. Plugging the TV Streamer into the “Audio Out” on the TV itself will allow for this, as well as the option to boost the bass or treble of what you are listening to. 

Personal Health Tracking 

Hearing aid wearers can accurately count their steps, monitor their standing and moving time, as well as set wellness goals through the My Starkey app. The heart emoji at the bottom of the home screen is where you access the personal health tracking option. 

Another feature of the My Starkey app that adds security to those who use it is the ability to detect falls. The app can tell when a fall has occurred and alert friends and family if needed. This option provides a sense of safety not only for those wearing hearing aids and using the app, but also their loved ones. 

In addition to these features, the My Starkey app can also run a “self-check” on your hearing aids to let you know if they need cleaning or maintenance. The Edge Mode+ feature allows for quick adjustments to sound quality in noisy environments, and the TeleHear feature assists patients on demand with video chat.
